Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. Her early Broadway performances included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The role she played on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working with famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford will next be seen in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford has been involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. As a Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney DTC's platforms. In March of 2023 Ashford will return to Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford was Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal that was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. She starred in two seasons on the cult CBS comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Her additional Broadway credits are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford is now dividing her time between Los Angeles and New York.
